About Him: Louis XV

"His look and the coat of cloth of gold which he was wearing that day combined to form, in my imagination, the ideal of a great king."

I've always imagined Louis XV at his height of fame to be much like the English Charles II: handsome beyond question with a great love for the ladies. And vastly popular early in their reigns.

I always think that is deeply unfair when a King is also attractive. They should leave all the good looks and charm to the rest of us!

There's something a bit Kevin Spacey like about Louis XV though, I think.

  4. Even though this is Louis XV and not Louis XVI, I can see why Sofia Coppola cast Jason Schwartzman in Marie Antoinette, aside from familial privilege, that is :)
