Fine Art and Barbie for the Museum Collection

When I saw these I had to share them! Barbie now has a Museum Collection line, with dolls inspired by artists and their masterpieces.  More shocking, are the reasonable prices.  There are currently three in the collection and I would be interested in what they select next.

Wouldn't you love to see a Barbie inspired by Watteau or Fragonard?  What would the Jacques-Louis David Barbie wear?  Check out all the fine-art inspired dolls (below)

To be honest I wasn't too thrilled with these. Mattel has released other art themed dolls in the past that I've found more appealing. However, it is an interesting concept, and after seeing them in person I can at least attest to the fact that the final product is very accurate to the promotional photos (not always the case). I'd be very surprised if they do any more; they tend to keep these concept collections fairly small (last year, for instance, they had a similar series of three inspired by famous landmarks, probably by the same designer).

If anyone is interest in picking these up, check the Barbie aisle of your local Target--I've seen all three on the shelves there already.

Is it wrong to want Barbie's dress? I'd like a (much) larger version of the Van Gogh one please!

Funny comparing how ideals of beauty have changed - Barbie Mona Lisa isn't exactly the spitting image of her namesake.
