Exhibition: Sin & the City

William Hogarth. Beer Street, 1751.
Etching and engraving.
Graphic Arts Collection,
Firestone Library.
Now here is an 18th century exhibition at a.....library! (yay love it!)

The Firestone Library at Princeton University is hosting Sin and the City: William Hogarth's London, which is on view through January 29, 2012.  Seventy of Hogarth's prints are on display, depicting the city of London developing into the bustling 18th century town we know and love, all skillfully done with his witty social scenes and commentary.

The show is supplemented with works by several of his contemporaries, period maps and documents! So if you are in the area be sure to stop by!

Also, check out the website for the show. There is a little section about the London maps, and a list of included events in the next few months such as music, tours and discussions.
