Something looks familiar here...
Do you Anne of Austria is wearing the same dress seen on Marie de Medici (left)?  Who pulls it off better?  I still love the color and details of this gown.  (plus I am on a pearl kick lately so it really appeals to me!) You can rate Anne's (Marie's?) dress at The Dreamstress blog

  1. They definitely look and probably are the same! Very interesting... It suits the daughter in law better.

  3. How clever of you to notice this!

  4. Similar, but not exactly alike. I must say that one gown echoes the other, much as I my suit echoes a co-worker's, but is not made by the same seamstress.

  5. It looks exactly the same to me! And so, now I'm very confused. You're such a keen observer to have found this! Thanks

  8. The only difference I can see is explainable by the fact that the portraits show the gown in a different light and are by different artists. I never thought of either of these ladies as economical, so perhaps the dress was a favorite and Marie gave it to her daughter-in-law because she couldn't fit into it any more?
