  1. After the utter fail that is the Tudors, I was nervous about this one. But I'm very happy to say this show is fantastic! DVR is set for the whole season.

  3. Can't wait to see it! I heard that they play Handel at the Pope's coronation, which is a bit disappointing. Otherwise, I heard that it is quite good.

  4. @Elena maria vidal yes!

On the topic of music, this seems interesting, period music for this era:

Dinastia Borja - The Borgia Dynasty:
Església i Poder al Renaixement - The Church & Power in the Renaissance

"To coincide with the 500th anniversary of the birth of Saint Francis Borgia, Fourth Duke of Gandia, Jordi Savall and Alia Vox offer this visually lavish and artistically comprehensive multi-disc set entitled Dinastia Borja (The Borgia Dynasty). It features a broad selection of music of the time, including works by composers such as Isaac, Dufay and Morales. For five centuries, scholars have studied and debated the role of the Borgias in Renaissance history. Although their name is synonymous with Papal corruption and they were undoubtedly malevolent and immoral, as patrons of the arts, the Borgias were also instrumental in the period's explosive growth of culture. The fascinating story of their life and legacy (both good and evil) still has the power to inspire the imagination. With this dramatic historical and artistic backdrop, Savall and his fellow musicians draw listeners into the fascinating musical world of the time, shedding new light on this unique (and at times bloody) era in Western history."

  5. Yes Handel!! That's who it was! I couldn't place the composer but even said aloud "Wait a minute, this music is the wrong century!" My outburst was met with rolled eyes by my companions. Well I'm glad that personal mystery has been put to rest.
